Calgarian "Chops Her Locks" For Charity  On Saturday, March 1st, Leah Krueger had her long blonde locks chopped off in the name of charity. Leah spent 2 years growing her hair for this purpose only. The last 6 months, Leah raised $1700.00 in pledges for this gesture with all proceeds going to the Calgary Firefighters Burn Treatment Centre. To take it a step further, Leah arranged to have all the ponytails collected and donated to `` Angel For Kids`` which makes wigs for young burn and cancer survivors. When Leah was 3 years old she suffered severe burns to both of her hands when she fell into her fireplace. Due to the care that she recieved she felt the need to give something back in the name of burn treatment. Leah was supported by 4 other individuals who also had their locks chopped; including 11 year old Carissa Driscoll. A special thanks goes out to the owner of Mirada Salon & Spa, Don Habib, who was very generous in donating his facility and personal talents towards this event.  SOLD OUT!!! CFBTS Supports Burn Survivors
The CFBTS has provided funding to help create the newly formed Calgary Burn Survivor Group. This organization includes former and current burn patients who meet to discuss, support and help each other with the many issues surrounding burn survival, recovery and rehabilitation. They are also in the process of establishing a Soar Program as well as a BEST Program with the help of the Calgary Firefighters Burn Treatment Centre Staff and funding from the CFBTS.
